Why do we fight in wars?

Have you ever fought? Have you ever known why? A war is similar and different to a normal fist fight. We learned many ways why there were many wars. There's usually 4 actions in a war (Isolationism, Collective Security, Internationalism, and Imperialism). These are also actions how people react to fist fights. Isolationism is when you ignore the fight and leave it for themselves. Collective security is when you bring backup to the fight to help some one win or break it up. Internationalism is like collective security but, You help the fight for a reward. Imperialism is when people fought to own property or to increase their rank. We had to memorize this like how we know the back of our hand.

Diamond's changes of writing

How I feel about my writing is good, when I came to the 8Th grade I forgot some of my writing strategies that I learned from 7Th grade. In the 8Th since we had the E.L.A. test(English Language Arts), my teacher taught my class how to restate the prompt to get us started on our introduction for the essay. Another strategy I learned that help me during the S.S test (Social Studies test) my teacher taught the class was make a graphic organizer. It help me but the document in the right body paragraph and to help you set up your paragraph. I think my growth of writing has gotten better because when I was in 7Th I didn't write much. I just be writing like almost a page long and Now I had grown up and now I write more than I usually do. I learn how to use transition words in a essay. I think my writing level improve since 7Th grade and now. One reason I think my writing is better because I put more details and effort in my work. And also think my writing improve is that I learned how to take stuff out of the text and us it in my own words my own example. As a writer I think I gotten better but I still need some work on my writing to my thing sound better.

Diamond's way of reading

I feel about reading is that, I really didn't like reading before the 8Th grade and now I feel better about it. What made me feel better about reading was my 8Th grade teacher Mr. Locker. He got me to read certain books. In 7Th I just took random books out of the class library & just say I didn't like the book.But now I like to read. The only way I get to read at home is when brother is at work or outside.

My favorite book I read this year was "Fallen Angels" by Walter Dean Myers. I enjoy this book because I like to read books about armor or war such as "Maus I" & "Maus II" also "I Seen A Castle".

I think independent reading is a good way to start your day because, It's quiet and it take things off your mind. One thing like about reading when we share our books. Sometime when our books with others I might want to read a book that I thing I am going to like. One thing I don't like about independent reading is on Mondays I feel tired and when I get back to school I'd don't be having enough energy. During the whole school year I had three goals I wanted do before the end of the one of the goals is to read 50 books by the end of the year. I haven't finished that goal yet, I just have to read one more book to finished my goal. Another goal I wanted to do is read all the Series of Unfortunate Events. I had read all of them expect book #14. The last goal I had was to read at least 3 books that some one share that I like. I had read 5 books some one had share. I think reading is a good way to start your day & to keep you rested.

Michael P.'s Still Improving Writing

My writing was slow not small just slow. While I wrote my first sentence every one else is at their second paragraph. The first I wrote was the AIM on my notebook. Then the work was harder. The notes was even more harder, the notes were to copy about 2 paragraphs in 1 minute. Well at least I can copy my neighbor on whatever I'm missing. Well at least I wrote some of my work down.

Later on I was writing faster but it was still slow because I usually don't know what to write or what more to write. That's why this might be short. Sometimes I type and have large font so it seems like I wrote more. I also used some images to take more space. Anyway my work usually better when it's typed rather than written. That's why I like doing my work on a computer rather than having it written. I finish more work on the computer and less on pencil.

Michael P.'s Educational Reading

Compared to 8Th grade standards my reading was probably the worst in the whole class. But, the more I read, the better my reading skill went.

I started by reading a book I don't even remember. Some book from the Bluford series. I was supposed to read it in three days, while the 100 paged book took me a month to read. Then, I started reading Series of Unfortunate Events.

During the time I was reading the story seems like if it was boring for some people, but that's what the author is trying to do is so nobody would read his books. For me the story was interesting (because my view of the story is different ). The story goes from 1 direction to another, like when driving a car a unexpected turn comes along.

After reading the Series of Unfortunate events, (which took me most of the year)it was difficult to find another book as interesting. Even though I had too skip some books because some were missing so I probably read 10 out of the 14 books in the series. I've tried to find a book similar to the series but I couldn't. Then I thought that at least I started but I don't know if I'll finish.
